Design Explorations - a 4 day Master class with Katie Pasquini Masopust

The European Patchwork Meeting is very happy to welcome Katie Pasquini Masopust who will be teaching a 4 day master class after the European Patchwork Meeting ; she will also be teaching during the EPM. For nearly 30 years Katie Pasquini Masopust has produced high quality contemporary art quilts that have been coveted and collected by a broad range of collectors and museums. From her early beginning in traditional quilt making, her work has evolved from structured Mandalas and mind-blowing dimensional pieces to very painterly landscapes and abstracts executed with the finest fabrics and most creative stitching techniques.
Katie’s easy, energetic manner has made her a very popular teacher and lecturer. She travels the world presenting her contemporary quilting theories and techniques to classes, not only in North America, but in Europe, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand. Awards and accolades have been numerous for Katie, culminating with her 2005 induction into a very select group of art quilt professionals who have earned the Silver Star Award presented by Houston Quilt Festival.
A prolific author, Katie shares her enthusiasm for the art of creative quilting through her numerous books, such as “Fractured Landscapes”, “Ghos Layers”, “Isometric Perspectives” etc.,

Master class description : Design Explorations

Katie will show you how to start with an original photograph, line drawing or painting and create a departure from its reality. We will do 6 + different exercises to explore the abstract and non-representational designs, these include, shape, line, blind painting, “cubing”, zooming, abstract still life. Composition, color schemes and a well thought out plan will be emphasized. A quilt design will be fully realized. Many different techniques will be discussed to help you create your quilt such as appliqué, piecing, fusing, collage, and painting and stamping on the surface. A good opportunity to create your “one of a kind” masterpiece ! This master class will be the starting point of a new approach to art quilt.

Price : 550 € includes : Katie Pasquini’s classes, accommodation with breakfast during 3 nights (from Monday the 20th, to Thursday 23rd of September 2010), meals (lunch and dinner without drinks).

Transfers and material needs for the classes are not included.
